What happens

Basil Rathbone plays both Murdoch Glowery, a ghost bound to haunt Glowery Castle until he is forgiven, and his living descendant Donald Glowery. Peggy Martin, an American visitor, arrives to look at the castle her father wants to buy, and she is drawn to the young laird. Donald is struggling with debts, and his household servants fear the ghost that walks the halls at midnight. The guide's first portion ends with the castle being prepared for sale and a plan to move it across the Atlantic. The series is Screen Guild Theater, first broadcast on 21 August 1944, and the cast is Basil Rathbone, Marcia Hunt, Eugene Palette and Charles Irwin.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
