What happens

Rick Fitzgerald and his sister Pamela buy Windward House, a seaside property above the cliffs. Strange noises and a mysterious scent trouble them, and Stella Meredith, granddaughter of the retired commander who owns the house, becomes drawn to the place. Rick and Pamela begin to suspect the house holds a dark past. This is an episode of the Screen Guild Theater, first broadcast on August 28, 1944, adapted from Dorothy McCartill's story The Uninvited, with Ray Milland, Ruth Hussey and Betty Field in the leading roles.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
