What happens

Screen Guild Theater presents a radio adaptation of the 1941 film Sergeant York, broadcast on January 18, 1942. The Cumberland mountains of Tennessee, and later the battlefields of France during the First World War.

Characters: Alvin York, Gracie Williams, Pastor Rosier Pile, Ike Botkin

Listen for: Alvin York's struggle between his religious conscience and his sense of duty as the country calls him to war.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
