What happens

Nick Butler, a foreman on a banana plantation in Puerto Aguilar, is drawn into a tangle of cards, cash and romance with Lee Donley, a woman who has been jailed and is trying to avoid deportation. Steve Case, the plantation manager, wants Nick to stay on, while the bandit Rosario, an old jailmate of Lee's, complicates matters. The Screen Guild Theater presents Torrid Zone, a 1942 Warner Brothers comedy, in its broadcast of January 25, 1942. Paulette Goddard, George Raft, Jack Carson and George Tobias star as Lee, Nick, Steve and Rosario. Much of the story is played out on the plantation and in the port town.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
