What happens

Inventor Walter McCoolie, a history teacher turned tinkerer, receives a telegram from the International Research Bureau inviting him to San Diego to test his one-man life raft. His wife Virginia and their children travel with him, and the family's train trip brings a mix-up over a drawing room and a meeting with the bureau's brisk executive, John Thompson Caldwell. The Screen Guild Theater presented this comedy on December 11, 1944, with Edward Everett Horton, Louise Allbritton and John Hall in the leading roles. The story follows the McCoolies' attempts to win over Caldwell and the raft's first trial in the harbor.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
