What happens

On Christmas Eve, young Snooks asks her father to tell her the story of Pinocchio, which he does as a bedtime tale. A lonely old toymaker named Geppetto wishes that his carved wooden puppet could become a real boy, and the Blue Fairy brings Pinocchio to life, assigning Jiminy Cricket as his conscience. Pinocchio is soon tempted by Honest John, who lures him toward the stage. The episode is from Screen Guild Theater, first aired on December 24, 1945, with Fanny Brice as Snooks, Hanley Stafford as Daddy, and Carol Smith as Pinocchio.

A family home on Christmas Eve, where Daddy tells a bedtime story of an old toymaker's cottage and the wider world beyond it.

Characters: Snooks, Daddy, Pinocchio, Japetto, Jiminy Cricket, Blue Fairy, Honest John, Stromboli

Listen for: Jiminy Cricket's advice to Pinocchio about temptation, and the whistle song he teaches him.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
