What happens
Julian Northrop, an elderly man, lives with his grandson Pud in a quiet garden. Death, a figure called Mr. Brink, arrives to take him, but Julian tricks Mr. Brink into a wish that anyone who climbs his apple tree must stay there until he lets them down. Mr. Brink becomes trapped in the tree, and Julian lives on, while his scheming Aunt Demetria and the family lawyer Pillbeam take an interest in the boy's future. Screen Guild Theater presents this 1946 adaptation of On Borrowed Time, with Lionel Barrymore, Agnes Moorehead, Vincent Price and Ted Donaldson in the cast.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
