What happens

At a London party, Alan Allen meets Singleton, a woman who seems to know him and tells him a love letter he once wrote was meant for a woman named Victoria. Alan later learns that Victoria Moreland was involved in a violent killing at Meadow Farm in Essex, and he begins to piece together her past. Singleton is an orphan who was raised under a different name, and her memory of the past is incomplete. This Screen Guild Theater adaptation of Love Letters, broadcast on December 2, 1946, stars Loretta Young and Rex Harrison, with Paula Winslow as Dilly.

London and rural Essex, England

Characters: Alan Allen, Singleton, Dilly Carson, Derek, Roger Moreland, Victoria Moreland, Beatrice Remington

Listen for: Singleton's sudden slips into the name Roger and her unease when asked to write, which hint at her buried past.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
