What happens

Kendall Browning, private secretary to cement executive Steven Dexter, is pressed into a sham marriage when his lawyer, Van Horn, warns that a rival firm's injunction will ruin him unless he weds quickly. Dexter had hoped to propose to model Phyllis Walden, so Kendall agrees to stand in as the bride. The arrangement quickly becomes a battle of wills in a house where Kendall takes the bedroom, Dexter the porch swing, and Van Horn the love seat. The Lady Esther Screen Guild Players present this comedy, which stars Lucille Ball as Kendall, Brian Aherne as Dexter, and Porter Hall as Van Horn, and was broadcast on August 19, 1946.

New York City, in the offices of the Dexter Cement Company, a flight to Charleston, South Carolina, and Dexter's home.

Characters: Kendall Browning, Steven Dexter, Van Horn, Phyllis Walden, Jose de Braganza

Listen for: Kendall's wry narration about Dexter's annual 'spring fever' and the lawyer Van Horn's repeated references to legal cases.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
