What happens

Father O'Malley arrives as the new pastor at St. Mary's school, where Sister Benedict runs the classes. The school faces condemnation, and the sisters hope the owner, Mr. Bogardis, will give them his nearby building. Father O'Malley also takes an interest in Patsy Gallagher, a pupil who is struggling with her schoolwork and who has been placed in the school's care by her mother. Sister Benedict's health and her relationship with Father O'Malley become central concerns as the school's future is debated. This is the Screen Guild Theater's 1946-08-26 broadcast, adapting the film The Bells of St. Mary's, with Bing Crosby, Ingrid Bergman and Joan Carroll.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
