What happens
Lewis Colwin, a rising employee at the Hampton company, is caught between his career and his marriage to Nancy, who feels neglected. When Nancy walks out and takes a job at the same firm, the two keep crossing paths under the eye of J.P. Hampton, the firm's demanding head, who believes an employee who cannot succeed in marriage cannot succeed in business. Lewis's old friend Don Hampton, the boss's son, complicates matters as he begins courting Nancy. Based on the 1939 comedy Going My Way, this Screen Guild Theater adaptation was broadcast on November 5, 1939, and features Loretta Young and Edward Arnold, with James Stewart also in the cast.
Hampton company offices and a Hollywood-style business world, where a married couple works at the same firm.
Characters: Lewis Colwin, Nancy Colwin, J.P. Hampton, Don Hampton
Listen for: Listen for Nancy's exchanges with Lewis in his office, and J.P. Hampton's warnings about marriage and business.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
