What happens

Ginger Ted, a destitute beachcomber played by Charles Laughton, faces a courtroom in a tropical colony, accused by Martha Jones and her brother Owen of inciting trouble and assaulting a sergeant. The Dutch comptroller Grighter, played by Jean Hersholt, presides over the case and sentences Ginger to a road gang, but the authorities instead decide to banish him to the remote island of Aco. Ginger is dispatched there by launch with Miss Jones, and the boat is soon stranded on a reef, forcing the pair to spend the night together on an uninhabited island. The Gulf Screen Guild Theater broadcast of November 12, 1939 presents the play with Elissa Landi, Reginald Owen and Jean Hersholt in the cast.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
