What happens

Louise Charters and Carl Sands meet while dancing at an Indian club and instantly fall in love, shocking her husband Hubert and her sister-in-law Clara. The four argue over what to do, and Carl reveals he is a shipping representative about to sail on Wednesday. This is the Screen Guild Theater's adaptation of the 1939 film We Were Dancing, broadcast on October 29, 1939, with Vinnie Barnes, Adolphe Menjou, Hedda Hopper and Robert Montgomery in the cast, hosted by Roger Pryor. The episode also includes a Gulf product message and a segment in which the stars answer questions.

A club in India, with a later scene at dawn on the club balcony.

Characters: Louise Charters, Carl Sands, Hubert Charters, Clara Bessler, Roger Pryor

Listen for: The sudden, dizzying romance between Louise and Carl during the dance, and Hubert's calm, wounded reaction as the situation unfolds.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
