What happens

Colonel Fontaine, an officer policing a desert railroad construction camp in Morocco, is pursuing El Cobar, the leader of the Riffs, a tribe fighting against the forced labor on the project. Paul Hudson, a pianist at a Pucknes cafe, becomes entangled in the conflict, and the singer Margot is drawn into the desert struggle. The Lady Esther Screen Guild Players presented this radio adaptation of Warner Brothers' Desert Song, based on Sigmund Romberg's operetta, on May 21, 1945. Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
