What happens

Dan Brewster, a sea captain with a wild streak, is taken in by Margaret Garrett, a Broadway star, after he sweeps her away from a crowd of fans and gets her out of a tight spot. Dan follows Margaret from city to city, and when he finally meets her she has him arrested for annoying her. Margaret is also dealing with her demanding family, whose money troubles weigh on her. Dan is brought before a judge, and an unlikely arrangement puts Margaret in charge of him. Robert Young and Louise Albritton star in this Screen Guild Theater broadcast of Joy of Living, which first aired on May 28, 1945.

New York City and the surrounding cities of Boston, New Haven and Philadelphia, where Margaret's show tours; a courtroom, a cab and a cafe appear in the story.

Listen for: Margaret's first meeting with Dan on the street, and the courtroom scene where Dan is placed on probation in Margaret's care.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
