What happens

Francis X. Farrell, a rookie pitcher known as Alibi Ike, joins a baseball team managed by Cap, who is counting on him for the pennant. Farrell arrives late, makes excuses for his failings, and struggles with a stalled romance with Dolly, the sister of his teammate Mac. Their relationship sours after a misunderstanding at a train station. Later, Farrell is approached by a man offering money to throw a game, and he is tempted by the offer. This is a Screen Guild Theater presentation, first broadcast on June 18, 1945, with Jack Carson, Joan Leslie and Alan Hale in the leading roles.

A baseball club's training camp and hotel in the big leagues, and a Philadelphia hotel lobby.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
