What happens

In Vienna, Franz Schubert, a composer who has lost his teaching post, flees to Hungary to avoid military conscription and takes work shearing sheep on an estate. There he meets Anna, a capable young woman who admires his music and later joins him when he returns to Vienna. Their life is hard, and Franz struggles to find a publisher for his work. Anna begins to worry that she stands in the way of his success. The Screen Guild Theater broadcast presents this romantic story, starring Ilona Massey as Anna and Paul Henry as Franz Schubert, with Pedro de Cordoba and Frank Graham. Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
