What happens
Chuck Arnold, a bandleader, meets Peggy Mayhew when she wins a prize at a dance in Bloomington. They fall in love and marry, and Chuck takes his band toward a New York engagement. The 1929 stock market crash strips them of their money, and the couple struggles with the change in their fortunes. Their marriage is tested by disagreement over money, work and where they should live. Lloyd Bacon introduces the story, which is part of the Screen Directors Playhouse series on NBC Theater, first broadcast March 13, 1949, starring Dan Daley and Betty Lynn.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
