What happens

In postwar Berlin, Captain John Pringle, an American Army officer, is pulled into the investigation of Congresswoman Phoebe Frost, who has come from Iowa to examine the morale of United States troops and rumors of fraternization with German women. Frost suspects Pringle's involvement with Erika von Schluto, a nightclub singer, and the two begin following leads together. The episode is an adaptation of the Billy Wilder film A Foreign Affair, presented on NBC Theater's Screen Directors Playhouse in 1949, with Rosalind Russell, Marlene Dietrich and John Lund in the lead roles. The broadcast was recorded in Hollywood and aired on March 6, 1949.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
