What happens

Valerie Stanton, a celebrated Broadway actress, returns to her dressing room after the closing night of a play directed by her former lover, Gordon Dunning. Dunning is found dead in his office, struck on the head, and Valerie is left shaken and frightened. Captain Danbury of the police arrives to question her, and she begins to fear how the investigation will turn. The Screen Director's Playhouse presents this radio drama, starring Rosalind Russell in her original screen role, as part of NBC's All-Star Festival.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
