What happens

Lucy Muir, a widow, moves with her young daughter into Gull Cottage on the English coast, unaware that the house is haunted by the ghost of its former owner, sea captain Daniel Gregg. The captain is determined to drive the newcomers out, but Lucy refuses to leave and the two strike an uneasy bargain. The episode is a 1951 Screen Director's Playhouse presentation, broadcast by NBC on August 16, 1951, starring Charles Boyer and Jane Wyatt. Their tense exchanges gradually give way to a close, if prickly, friendship as the pair begin writing the captain's life story together, while Lucy faces money troubles and pressure from her family.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
