What happens

Nick Arden, a lawyer, has been trying to move on after his wife Ellen was declared dead at sea seven years earlier. He is now engaged to Bianca Bates, and the two marry in a quick ceremony before a judge. Their wedding night is interrupted when a sailor in ragged clothes arrives at the Arden house and speaks with the children, Timmy and Ginger. The scene is set for a comedy of mistaken identity in this Screen Director's Playhouse broadcast, which starred Irene Dunne and Cary Grant in the adaptation of the RKO film My Favorite Wife. The air date given is December 7, 1950.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
