What happens

Richard Diamond is called in by his friend Frank Bowers, a boxing manager, to investigate a fixed fight involving Frank's fighter Max Farmer, who inexplicably loses to an underdog. The next morning, Diamond learns that Frank has apparently committed suicide by jumping from the Brooklyn Bridge, but Diamond suspects foul play and begins investigating the connections between the fixed fight and Frank's death.

New York City, including a boxing arena, Frank's gymnasium, a nightclub called the Silver Circle, and the Brooklyn Bridge.

Characters: Richard Diamond, Frank Bowers, Max Farmer, Helen, Lorna Thorne, Ben Lamb, Lieutenant Walt Olstead, Sergeant Otis

Listen for: Diamond's clever deduction about how a suicide was faked using diving skills, connecting Max Farmer's Olympic diving background with Marshall Wayne to solve how Frank was actually murdered; the revelation that Lorna Thorne, a dancer and bookie, was the brains behind the scheme.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
