What happens

Ranger Bill investigates a dangerous situation at Big Ridge Dam, where heavy rain and melting snow have pushed the reservoir toward its safety limit. Frank Manning and Slim, working at the dam, must decide when to open the floodgates to protect the valley below. Bill and his crew, including Henry, Gray Wolf and Stumpy, organize sandbag walls, reinforce the railroad bridge, and warn residents to evacuate. As the water rises faster than expected, the men weigh the risk of waiting against the danger of opening the gates early. The episode is part of the Ranger Bill series, which is a radio adventure program. The original air date was September 21, 1956.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
