What happens
Ranger Bill and his companions Henry, Stumpy and Gray Wolf travel with their horses when Storm, a young horse, suddenly becomes ill and cannot walk. Bill examines him and finds no clear cause, so the men decide to watch over him through the night. By morning Storm's condition has worsened and Bill arranges for a helicopter to fly him to the State University veterinary hospital. There the staff are unable to find the problem, and Bill argues with the school's dean to bring in Jeremiah Sutter, a backwoods veterinarian whom some on campus look down upon. The episode is part of the Ranger Bill series, first aired on October 3, 1956.
A forest trail and campsite, then State University's veterinary hospital and campus.
Characters: Ranger Bill, Henry, Stumpy, Gray Wolf, Barney, Storm, Dr. Klem, Dean Rogers
Listen for: Bill's argument with Dean Rogers over bringing Jeremiah Sutter to examine Storm.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
