What happens
Ranger Bill Jefferson investigates a fatal car accident in the village of Big Pine, where a townsman named Sam Potter was struck and killed on the street. Two teenage boys, Ruben and Smitty, were driving a hot rod that hit him, and they fled the scene. Angry townspeople gather, and the rangers work to keep order while Bill examines the evidence, the vehicle, and the circumstances of the crash. Ranger Bill is a series from the old-time radio era, and this episode aired on April 13, 1955. The rangers face a volatile crowd that wants to take the law into its own hands, and Bill works to establish what really happened before the situation turns violent.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
