What happens
Ranger Bill oversees a forest district where senior ranger Ralph expects a promotion as the next in line. Instead, Colonel Anders sends Gil Zodkin from the Pennsylvania Eastern District to train under Bill for a while before taking over Andy Thompson's post. Ralph and the other rangers resent the decision and quietly make things difficult for Gil, who works to win their respect. Bill tries to calm the tension and to reason with the men, and the rangers' resentment becomes the central problem of the story. Ranger Bill is a radio drama from the series of the same name, first broadcast on May 11, 1955.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
