What happens

Ranger Bill and his crew are inspecting private lands that border government forests when a rancher named Knut Habsen faces trouble. Horace Butler, who holds the mortgage on Knut's ranch, refuses to extend the payment due that day, even though Knut has always paid his debts and is short of money after a sick wife and poor crops. Knut turns to Ed Banker at the bank for help, but the loan is refused. Meanwhile Bill's men learn of Butler's hard dealing, and Bill prepares a final warning over Butler's unrepaired property violations, setting up a confrontation between the ranger and the moneylender.

A small ranch near Nadi Pine and the surrounding forest country, with the ranger headquarters and the town bank nearby.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
