What happens
Ranger Bill tells the story of a runaway train. A railroader named John Farmer and his partner Boomer steal an old steam locomotive, the last of the Rimrock, Rawhide and Ragweed Railroad, and plan to sell it to a collector. Their plan runs into trouble when a boy named Henry, who had come to see the old engine, is taken along with them. The men start the locomotive down the steep mountain grade, and the brakes begin to fail as the train picks up speed. The transcript does not say how the story is resolved.
A mountain railroad line in the western United States, running from the mining town of Ragweed through Rawhide down to Rimrock, where it meets the main line.
Characters: Ranger Bill, John Farmer, Boomer, Henry, Stumpy, Grey Wolf
Listen for: The steam locomotive whistle, and the men discussing the failing brakes as the train races down the mountain.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
