What happens

Ranger Bill follows new Ranger Corey Windsor, one of five recruits just out of Ranger School, as the six months of training begin in the field. Chief Ranger Bill Jefferson gives the new men a lesson in self-reliance, and they learn to clear a rattlesnake den under the watch of veteran Stumpy Jenkins. That night a grizzly bear prowls near camp, and the recruits face their first real test. Corey, rattled by the prospect of hunting the bear, announces he is quitting, and his father is called to the district. The episode ends with the grizzly threatening a family's cabin and Corey's response to it.

The Ranger district in the hills near Naughty Fine, with rattlesnake dens, a camp under the trees, and a remote cabin.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
