What happens
Ranger Bill, the Guardian of the forest, takes on reckless teenage speedboat racers on Beaver Lake, a summer resort area formed by the Tri-Mountain power dam. Lifeguard Byron and the townsfolk, including Ben, complain that the water hot rods endanger swimmers and boats, and Bill threatens to close the lake to such racing. He requires every boat to carry registry numbers, but a racer named Nick is singled out after a near-miss with swimmers, and the numbers on the boats start to be switched. Bill sets a trap for the boat he is tracking. This is a summary of the events so far.
