What happens

Ranger Bill's crew awaits a new recruit, Jerry Sands, who arrives fresh from school and immediately boasts of his skills. Stumpy Jenkins, Gray Wolf and Henry Scott find his know-it-all manner wearing thin as he corrects their methods on a tour of the district, questioning fire lanes and the beaver dams. The rangers test his self-assurance through a series of pranks and an assignment to count bighorn sheep alone at night. The episode is part of the Ranger Bill radio series.

A forest ranger district near a small town, reached by train, with trails, ridges, beaver dams and a canyon.

Listen for: Jerry Sands boasting of his abilities and the older rangers' reactions to him.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
