What happens
Ranger Bill recounts how a salesman, Gil Major, presses insurance on Bill Jefferson after Bill narrowly escapes death when he saves a child from a car. Gil's pitch for a policy that covers eternity leads to repeated clashes with Bill, while Gil's own sales results and his boss's pressure grow tense. Bill, a ranger, remains patient and courteous as Gil argues with him, and Gil's private doubts begin to surface as the story develops.
A small town near a ranger station, with a hospital, an insurance office, and the homes of residents in the surrounding country.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
