What happens

Private detective Philip Marlowe is hired by Carl Delaney to find his wife Norma, who disappeared thirty-six hours earlier after a quarrel. Marlowe's investigation leads him to Madam Jeanette, a fortune teller on Olvera Street, and to Pierre Gillum, a man with connections to Norma's past. As Marlowe pursues the case through the fog-shrouded night, he uncovers a complex scheme involving jealousy, blackmail, and murder.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
