What happens
Philip Marlowe is hired by Professor Phoenix Piper, who has returned from a year of botanical research in South America only to discover that the house where he stored all his notes and research papers has vanished. Marlowe begins investigating the mysterious disappearance, learning that the house belonged to Catherine Stuyvesant and was moved six months earlier by the Gilligan wrecking and moving company under mysterious circumstances.
A coastal city with residential neighborhoods and a moving company office; the investigation begins at Marlowe's office and expands to include interviews with neighbors and company employees.
Characters: Philip Marlowe, Professor Phoenix Piper, Stephanie Fraser, Catherine Stuyvesant, Mrs. Elmo Laitrok, Bessie, Botten Schleig
Listen for: The curious details about why a house was moved in such a rush and where it was ultimately taken; the mention of an old woman's barge and shipping something out to sea.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
