What happens

Private investigator Philip Marlowe closes his office early on a hot desert wind evening and stops at a bar for a drink. A man is shot dead by a mysterious gunman, and minutes later, a tall brown-haired woman in a blue dress appears at Marlowe's apartment building, claiming to be in trouble. She reveals the dead man was her former chauffeur who stole something valuable from her, but darker forces are closing in.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
