What happens
Private detective Philip Marlowe is called to a seaside town by Dale Higgins, who sends an urgent wire but then cancels the appointment, saying the situation has resolved itself. After Marlowe agrees to leave, a frightened young woman calls his name in the fog and begs for his help, claiming she's in danger from someone named Bao and fears for her life.
Long Beach at night, a seaside town with the Ship's Galley restaurant, the Quick Quack shooting gallery, and the fog-shrouded streets near the warehouse district at 7th and Anaheim.
Characters: Philip Marlowe, Dale Higgins, Red, the young woman
Listen for: The mysterious identity of the young woman and what threat Bao represents; why Higgins cancelled despite his urgent summons; what danger the woman faces.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
