What happens
Phil Harris and his wife Alice Faye are spring cleaning their home when Phil insists on helping, starting with hanging a picture over the fireplace. His mishaps with a hammer and nail leave a hole in the wall and tension between the couple. Alice's brother Willie offers to fix the plaster, which irritates Phil, who storms out. Phil and his friend Frankie Remley then try to clean the chimney, with comic results. The episode is part of The Phil Harris - Alice Faye Show, first broadcast on NBC on May 1, 1949.
The Harris home during spring cleaning, including the living room, fireplace, and chimney.
Characters: Phil Harris, Alice Faye, Willie, Frankie Remley, Curly, Julius
Listen for: Phil's hammering mishaps and the chimney-cleaning plan with Willie and Frankie.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
