What happens
Phil Harris and Alice Faye prepare for a formal party at the home of their sponsor, Mr. Scott, held in their honor. Phil is suspicious of his boss's generosity, while Alice looks forward to wearing her new evening gown. Their friend Frankie Remley, who has been invited with a date, finds himself in need of formal clothes. Curly, Frankie's friend, lends him a tuxedo and helps arrange a dress for Frankie's girlfriend, Hildegard. The episode follows the mix-up over the gowns as the guests arrive. The show is part of The Phil Harris series, originally broadcast on NBC on October 23, 1949, starring Phil Harris, Alice Faye, Elliott Lewis and Gale Gordon.

Listen for: Frankie's efforts to find a dress for Hildegard and the confusion over Alice's new gown.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
