What happens

Phil Harris returns late from a Canadian fishing vacation just before the opening rehearsal of his radio show, and his family and sponsor are not pleased. Alice Faye, the children and Willie greet him with teasing, while Phil insists he was gone only a fortnight and offers a suitcase of salmon as proof. Sponsor Mr. Scott is angry that the season's opening program is unprepared and threatens to cancel the contract unless a fresh comedy show is ready by the next day. Phil and his bandmates Remley and Curly then struggle to write a script. The Phil Harris - Alice Faye Show aired on NBC on September 18, 1949.

Listen for: Phil's excuses for his long absence, Mr. Scott's ultimatum about the contract, and the scramble to produce a script.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
