What happens

Phil Harris is making his Christmas shopping list with Frankie Remley, and Curly Harris and Alice Faye also appear as the household keeps its usual fuss over gifts. Sponsor Mr. Scott asks the Harris family to hold a costly antique clock for his wife until Christmas Eve, and Phil and Remley open the package out of curiosity. The clock is damaged, and the two men try to repair it before the Scotts come to collect it. The part of the story included here ends with the repair running badly and the family trying to cover up what happened.

The Harris home, around Christmas, in the days before Christmas Eve.

Characters: Phil Harris, Alice Faye, Frankie Remley, Mr. Scott, Mrs. Scott, Grogan

Listen for: Listen for Phil and Remley opening Mr. Scott's package, their attempts to repair the clock, and the running gag about the clock's backwards-running mechanism.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
