What happens

Phil Harris asks his wife Alice Faye for fifty dollars, supposedly for a rare book, but she suspects the request is a cover. Her brother Willie and the neighbors Frankie and Curly take part in the scheming around her money. Phil's pal Remley is pulled into the plan as the friends try to help, and Alice gets a letter that seems to say her stock is worthless. The first part of the episode centers on Phil's excuses, Alice's generosity and the group's growing schemes.

The home of Phil Harris and Alice Faye, and the surrounding neighborhood.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
