What happens

On Father's Day, Phil Harris is treated as king by his family, but the day turns complicated when Frankie Remley's young French orphan, Andy, stays with the household. Frankie, unable to adopt Andy until he marries, places a newspaper advertisement in Phil Harris's name seeking a wife, and the advertisement brings unexpected visitors to the house. The Phil Harris Alice Faye Show aired on NBC on June 19, 1949, with Phil Harris and Alice Faye starring alongside Elliott Lewis and Gale Gordon.

The Harris home on Father's Day, and later the house on the day the advertisement appears in the newspaper.

Characters: Phil Harris, Alice Faye, Frankie Remley, Andy, Curly, Julius, Mrs. Smith

Listen for: Frankie Remley's newspaper advertisement in Phil Harris's name, and the mix-up when the woman who answers it arrives at the house.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
