What happens
Phil Harris and Alice Faye are bound by a sponsor's contract that forbids them from naming the company or its product on the air. Phil complains about the secrecy surrounding his payments and the strange dog the children want to keep. Meanwhile, Alice's contract with a burlesque manager prompts Phil to plan buying her out. Phil's friends Remley and Curly, struggling with an inventor's scheme, accidentally create a face cream that cooks up a breakfast cereal and then grows hair on the dog. The episode is part of The Phil Harris Show, first broadcast on NBC on October 15, 1950, starring Phil Harris and Alice Faye, with Elliott Lewis and Gale Gordon.
Hollywood, California, in the Harris household and nearby streets.
Characters: Phil Harris, Alice Faye, Frankie Remley, Curly, Milligan, Julius, Walter, William
Listen for: Phil's complaints about his sponsor and the cash payments in dark alleys, and Remley and Curly's kitchen experiment with the face cream.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
