What happens
Phil Harris and Alice Faye are tired of Elliot Lewis mooching off them, so they decide to find him a wife. On the Phil Harris show, which aired on NBC on September 25, 1953, the couple set about matchmaking for their freeloading friend. Elliot is talked into the idea of marriage by Phil, who paints a picture of domestic bliss. Julius, the grocery boy, hears of an aunt with money and a brewery and sees a chance for a profit. Phil Harris and Alice Faye lead the cast, with Elliot Lewis and Gale Gordon also in the episode. The transcript ends partway through the story.
The Harris household, and later the Harris living room.
Characters: Phil Harris, Alice Faye, Elliot Lewis, Julius, Clara, Willie
Listen for: Phil's sales pitch to Elliot on the merits of marriage, and Julius's scheming over his aunt.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
