What happens

Phil Harris and Alice Faye face Easter morning with their children expecting dyed eggs, but Phil forgot the dye. He sends Elliot Lewis to the drugstore, where Phil instead bought two dozen pairs of plastic water wings. Elliot brings a chemistry set, and he and Phil try to mix the dye without the instruction book. Their experiments go awry, and a purple and red mishap on Julius's new suit forces a hasty trip to a tailor shop to replace it. The Phil Harris and Alice Faye series aired on NBC, and this episode's original broadcast date is April 5, 1953.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
