What happens
Phil Harris, a bandleader and comic, and his wife Alice Faye are at home when their friend Elliott Lewis gets into trouble over a paid comedy routine he cannot perform without a partner. Phil's daughter Alice wants to attend a masquerade dance at the Lakeside Country Club with a boy named Sniffy, and Phil and Elliott agree to go along as her chaperones. The three arrive at the club in outlandish costumes, and the two men find themselves stopped at the door by a doorman who refuses to let them in. This is an episode of The Phil Harris-Alice Faye Show, an NBC program first broadcast on 1953-12-18, with Phil Harris, Alice Faye, Elliott Lewis and Gale Gordon in the leading roles.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
