What happens

Phil Harris, a wealthy but tightfisted father, is pressed by his daughter Alice and wife Myrtle to build a swimming pool for the children. Instead of paying for a proper one, he and his friend Elliot Lewis buy a cheap collapsible rubber life raft from Grogan's War Surplus Store, hoping to inflate it at home. The Phil Harris show is a 1953 NBC radio comedy, first broadcast on May 17, 1953, starring Phil Harris and Alice Faye. The pool's inflation proves far from simple, and the household quickly falls into chaos.

A suburban home living room, and later a war surplus store, during the early 1950s.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
