What happens

Redemption in Singapore follows a group of British prisoners held in the Changi Criminal Prison after the Japanese take Singapore in 1942. Narrator Pembroke and fellow prisoners Clyde and Shaw struggle with overcrowding, disease, and hunger, improvising food sources such as a snail farm. A prisoner named Cope arrives badly tortured and gradually reveals he was a British officer dropped into Malaya. The episode traces the prisoners' hopes through the Allied advances of 1944 and 1945, and their eventual release as the war ends. The Pacific Story series, broadcast by NBC, is the source of the program.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
