What happens
Miss Brooks, an English teacher at Madison High School, is caught up in Principal Osgoode Conklin's economy drive, which has rationed chalk and pencils. When Walter Denton brings in an expensive tape recorder on trial, Miss Brooks tries to get Conklin to reconsider the purchase. Conklin, meanwhile, is angry about small expenses and is unaware of what the machine has cost. Miss Brooks and Philip Boynton, a biology teacher, also experiment with recording a frog named Shamrock. The episode is part of the Our Miss Brooks series, first broadcast on CBS Radio on April 23, 1950, and stars Eve Arden, Gale Gordon, Jeff Chandler and Richard Crenna.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
